On the 23rd June, 1868, Christopher L. Sholes, Carlos Glidden and Samuel W. Soule received a patent for their Improvement in Type-Writing Machines.
The first drinking straws were used in ancient times by beer drinking Sumerians, to filter out the solid by-products from fermentation.
