The Bridgewater Canal in England was officially opened
On the 17th July, 1761, the Bridgewater Canal was officially opened, being the first British canal that did not follow an existing watercourse.
The first computer “bug” was found in the Harvard Mark I by Grace Murray Hopper when a moth caused one of the relays to fail.
