Schiltrons were first used by Sir William Wallace
On the 22nd July, 1298, the Scottish rebel, Sir William Wallace, first used schiltrons in defense against the English cavalry, where a group of men stood shoulder to shoulder, holding up long spears against the approaching enemy.
