On the 23rd of November, 1889, the first coin-operated phonograph was installed in the Palais Royale Saloon; the fore-runner to the juke-box.
When Edward Berner could not serve his customer flavoured soda water on the Sabbath, he served him up a bowl of ice-cream topped with chocolate ice-cream soda flavouring - the first ice-cream sundae!
